The Journey of Atherton Engineering's Aviation Legacy
From a young age, I was drawn to the skies. Growing up in Mumbai, I spent my childhood making paper planes, launching them into the air with the hope that they would soar. Each time they did, it filled me with a sense of achievement and wonder. This simple act became the foundation of my passion for aviation and my family's business.
My journey began with completing my primary, secondary, and higher secondary education in Mumbai. Hungry to expand my knowledge and hone my entrepreneurial craft, I ventured abroad to complete my BBA. After graduating, I returned to Kolkata, where the head office of Atherton Engineering Company (P) Ltd. was located. Coming back felt like a homecoming, not just to my city, but to the legacy my family had built over generations.
Atherton Engineering was more than just a business to me; it was part of my identity. I am the fourth-generation leader of the company, carrying on a legacy that has been passed down from one passionate visionary to another. As Director of Atherton, I have always believed in pushing boundaries, much like those paper planes I once made. With dedication and determination, I have taken the company to new heights, expanding its horizons and influence.
Today, Atherton is India's largest importer of aircraft and aircraft spares, dealing in nearly all single and multi-engine propellers from leading brands such as Cessna, King Air, Diamond, and Bombardier. My childhood dreams of touching the sky have been realized through the work we do at Atherton, helping to shape the aviation landscape of India.
Yet, as I reflect on my journey, I also recognize the changing world around us. Technological advancements have transformed the way people buy products and services. With just a swipe of a card or a click of a button, goods are delivered to your doorstep. But in the aircraft parts distribution industry, we still lag behind in adopting these innovations. This is a challenge I’m eager to tackle, combining tradition with technology to ensure that Atherton remains at the forefront of the aviation industry.
I believe that the future holds endless possibilities, and just like those paper planes that once soared into the sky, Atherton will continue to fly, touching new skies of success and glory.
